We can connect with the soul of Bali
by understanding and appreciating its culture through its rituals, music, and dance.

$1500 aud

Experience the authentic rituals of Pengrupukan the and Ogoh Ogoh, relax on a sandy beach far from the busy tourist area, splash under an easy to get to waterfall.

Pengrupukan is a sacred ritual observed by Balinese Hindus to cleanse and purify the world of negative forces.
In the weeks leading up to the ritual, young people gather in village community centers to craft the Ogoh-Ogoh—gigantic, fantastic papier-mâché demons. On the night before the Balinese New Year and the Day of Silence, these spectacular creatures are paraded through the streets of every village with immense joy and celebration. We will have the unique opportunity to experience this alongside locals in one of Bali's smaller villages.

The Day of Silence, known as Nyepi, is a time when the entire island completely shuts down: there are no flights, no internet, and no lights. We will spend this peaceful day at a quiet, seaside resort in the northeast, where we can still enjoy the pool, restaurant, and resort facilities. At night, we are simply requested to draw the blinds in our bungalows to minimize light. With the usual light pollution entirely gone, it is a truly spectacular night for stargazing

We stay in private bungalows on volcanic sand beaches. Bungalows are cool, well appointed and include tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and outdoor furniture.
